Pedal Wont go back up
So I recently installed a new throttle cable on from the pedal to the carburetor on my 87 trans am. Before the pedal would be too low on the floor. Now it sits perfectly but when I put my foot on the accelerator the pedal doesn't come back up the full way. I was thinking of getting a much stronger spring but both the stock and aftermarket spring next to the carb throttle cable linkages don't work, so I'm assuming there's another problem other than that. Also without even touching the accelerator the car will accelerate once in drive or reverse and upon start the rpm would get very high. The cruise control isn't connected at the moment since it seems to not be working so wasn't sure if that might be causing the issue but that shouldn't make the car accelerate on its own from start/continue to attempt to accelerate while pressing on the brakes. Let me know if you have any ideas or info on why this might be occurring with both problems. Thank you.

Re: Pedal Wont go back up
I had/have this issue occasionally. There are 2 factors I found when looking into it. The first is the carpet around my pedal sticks out a bit. That can bind the pedal up a bit.
The other issue is the routing of my throttle cable. It was twisting and turning so much that it had a lot of resistance. The cable should freely slide while disconnected in you hand.
Hopefully this info helps you or others out.
