Not sure where to put this. Need advice.

I don't know where to put this, but if someone ould help me, I'd appreciate it. Today, I called Chevy High Performance to see why I hadn't recieved my last 3 issues. Turns out that someone requested a change of address. I have the address. Truthfully, I'm not too worried about 3 inexpensive magazines. What I am worried about is that if he's willing to get in my mailbox and steal my subscription to one of my magazines, what else might he be willing to take. Sometimes things of value do come in my mailbox. Is this mail fraud? He stole a magazine out of my mailbox, then proceeded to impersonate me over the phone to change my subscription to be delivered to him. I don't want a whole lot from him. My magazines back, the decency to never look at my mail again, some money would be nice, since he pissed me off, and I'd like to make him sh*t his pants with threat of being charged with a federal crime. What do you guys think?

As far as it being tech: this guy stole a source of technical information from me, and I'd like it back.

Sounds like mail fraud to me! Just give your local post office a quick call. I take it you know this person?

Ya know this will be locked shortly..

But removing stuff from your MailBox is a Federal Offense...which offense I don't know.

Impersonating you might be a local/civil, not sure, but definitelt not legal to do.

As said before, contact the Post Office...they'll take this seriously.

I was planning on calling the post office when I get back in town on Sat. I was just wondering if any of you knew anything solid. I have no lue who this person is. I only know the address, because when I called to find out where my issues were, she told me what address it had been changed to.

Defiantly call the Post Office, then the cops. I’m not a big fan of the cops, but in this case call them and see what they can do. Keep in mined that you don’t know who's **** he has fukked with. He may be getting your neighbor **** and they haven’t realized it yet. People like this just pi$$ me off to no end. Get the Postal officials involved and make him (or her) pay for messing with your property. It is your property, stand up for it. How dare someone go though your mail, its privet, it personal, and most of all IT’S YOURS! Me done rant now.

Yeah its a federal offense, but its awful hard to prove. I doubt that the local cops will even want to get involved. You'll have to prove that it was he who went into your mailbox.
Sounds like your in a tight spot, the law won't allow you to prosecute based on the current evidence. An investigator will have to talk to him and get him to admit to the theft, and if he has half a brain, (which he definatly does not,) he might not admit to it.
MY advice, call the local police, and ask to talk to an investigator directly. Explain your situation to him, see what he can do. If he can't do jack, do it yourself.

Just curious, how did this person get into your mailbox in the first place? Do you have one of those "roadside" mailboxes that people like to knock over when they drive by?

If so maybe you should get a lockable mailbox, even better rent a P.O. Box if you don't mind spending the extra $$$.

For protecting any valuable packages/letters, just ship them REGISTERED w/a return receipt. Or use UPS.

If I were you, I would come up with some way to embarass that person for being so disrespectful to you and your property. But I'm not you so do what you feel is necessary without getting yourself in any trouble.

Drive by gasolining. you have the address. if the pavement in the persons driveway is what they all are, then gasoline will break it down to sand and mud. 5 gallon bucket + some cheap watereddown low octane fuel always works. dump it at the top so it runs down the whole thing, better if theres a car parked too. whenever people *** with me I deal them damage where it hurts.
If the problem persists, there are always the valve stems of the vehicle to loosen up. also, roundup destroys lawns. a thin mist over the entire area will kill the entire lawn of all grass. then the city will come and citation them for improper lawn car (driveway care too) and make them pay to have it re-sodded and / or re-paved. If the problem still persists, do it again till they figure it out. they cant prove who dumped gasoline of the driveway, its quiet, and works overnight. :-)

this isn't tech so it gets locked. it makes about as much sense to post this here as it does to go to the post office and ask them why your car isn't running right.
