Help Me Please

I have a 1985 Camaro, It's a 2.8 Liter V6. I was just driving normally that day in the middle of October. When all of a sudden for no reason at all, My car's thermostat light came on, I pulled over, It was smoking from the back of the engine, And the coolant in the coolant tank was boiling like it was on top of a stove, I let it sit for about 10 minutes. I started driving again, It was fine for about 15 or 20 miles then it was doing it again, Making a weird noise it sounded like a ringing noise. I stopped the car, Let it sit, It was doing the same thing again, Smoking, Boiling. I let it sit for another 15 minutes, Got in and drove, This time it was bad, I had my pedal flat to the floor and it would just get slower and slower and then I heard a bang and it shut off and wouldn't start, It would crank but no start. I got it towed home, The next morning (keep in mind it was about 25 degrees) I went out to crank it, Just from cranking it a little, It started to boil, No smoke, It just boiled, I put anti-freeze in and it would keep going down and down, My uncle said that something is leaking in the back of the engine out of the 6th cylinder. What is wrong here? I need help and quick. This is my only form on transportation. And the anti freeze inside the coolant reseivoir stank really bad.
Some one help me!!!

Check to see if you have any coolant in your oil,if you do you have blown a head gasket, which is what it sounds like it could be. Just pull the dipstick out and see if the oil looks milk.

What else could be wrong with it? Why did it make that bang and why didn't it go faster when I had it flat to the floor. Why was the coolant boiling??

Your coolant boiled because your car was overheating and by continously trying to drive it, sounds like you blew a head gasket.

I don't know what the bang might have been, but from what you discribed it may have been the soul leaving your engine. I agree with Mark, head gasket. The oil will let you know.

Why did you keep driving your car after it overheated? Cars don't just overheat for no reason and magically fix themselves, that was a very stupid thing to do. If coolant is leaking from the sixth cylinder, you're going to be taking off the passenger side head at least. You should really replace both head gaskets and every gasket ontop of them, and have the heads checked because they could very well be warped and need to be milled flat. Good luck on that. If you're gonna pay someone to change the head gaskets, you might as well buy a new engine.

My dad is very good with cars, So I don't have to pay anyone, It's a matter of buying the items. I only drove cuz I was almost 20 miles away from home and I had my girlfriend with me and she was very cranky as usual. Why did it go bang?

I guess the bang could have been the motor getting so hot the gas would ignite in the intake?I do know you warped your heads, more than likely the reason you cant start the car is cause you have little or no compression.

Damn women =p Buy headgaskets, sealer, intake manifold gaskets, and rtv.. then remove the heads and have them checked. The sound is anyones guess, possibly the gasket blowing. You may find out otherwise when you remove everything. As long as you have a torque wrench it shouldn't cost more than 60 bucks unless you need to repair something.

I'm willing to bet the bang was your lower radiator hose. Take a look.
When my motor blew I had the hood off the car and the lower radiator hose ruptured, shooting the reinforcing spring about 100 feet into the air.
And I agree... you ruptured a head gasket and may have warped a head or cracked one.

whats the reinforcement spring do anyways? i had to change the bottom hose and forgot to put it back in..doesnt seen to affect anything that i could tell...does it just keep the hose from clamping in on itself?

I'm pretty sure the reinforcing spring does what you think - just stops the hose from vacuuming in on itself. It was kinda cool to watch it fire into the air. I'm really glad my face wasn't anywhere near that thing when it went though.... whew!
