89 Camaro has troubles staying started

Hi. Since I got this car, I have had one frequent problem that I do not know where to begin with when diagnosing. I can start and drive the car no problems, I can leave it in idle and it will not shut off. However, if I drive the car, and then let it sit for maybe 15 or more minutes, when I start the car, it will die almost immediately. I have to continually pump the gas for a good minute until she decides she can idle on her own without dying. If I tried to hold down the gas it seemingly won't take it all. It will take a blip of gas, and then stop even if I keep my foot on the gas (Is this to prevent flooding?). So, I continually pump the gas giving it blips at a time until it is back to normal. Whenever the car sits for extended periods like more than 4 to 5 hours the problem subsides, and the car starts normally again. If the car does not sit for more than roughly 15 minutes in-between being driven, then it will start up no problem.

Any info on where to start looking is very much appreciated.

Definitely sounds fuel related, have you ohmed the injectors cold and hot ?
are they the original multec grey body injectors ?

Accidentally duplicated comment.

I have not done any testing so far. I will get back to you to see if they are the original injectors, but I believe they are either the original or oe replacements. I have not ohmed the injectors as I will be honest, I don't know what tools I will need for that job (I also didn't know that this was a method of testing anything). I'm slowly learning more and more about this car, but with my current lack of knowledge I don't even know how the information I will get from performing this test will help. Someone on a different post enlightened me that getting certain tools doesn't have to be expensive, so if I can do the test myself I will.

I appreciate the info greatly.

might even be a cheaper option, you can do engine off ohm them start the car even a short drive to hear everything up then check ohm reading again. May want to write down and post results.

I will definitely post the results here, but it may be a few days before I actually have the tool in hand. Either way, thanks so much!

Re: 89 Camaro has troubles staying started

Since this happens warm... May be a temp sensor issue. The car thinks it's cold when it's not so the computer is sending the wrong info... I would check the output of the coolant temp sensor that the computer uses.

If it runs fine all the rest of the time, I am less inclined to thinks it's the injectors and more in the feedback sensors...

But I also had an 89 that was hard to start cold... But that was a computer replacement... Learned to make sure the key was out of the ignition before reconnecting the battery! Damaged the ECM...

After reviewing the information above, I'm not completely confident that the vehicle has injectors for which resistance measurements can be taken. Nothing was ever mentioned about TPI.

If I may add, I was wondering the same. No mention of type of engine. TPI, TBI TPI350, V6?. Original? Transmission?

If I may, the kind of problem you are describing can be due to many many things. Hard to diagnose online, specially with no information on type of engine.
Usually, checking the basic system like fuel & spark, helps eliminating possible causes.
After that, without a datalogger, it can be tricky to figure out what's going on with EFI
