Car won't start help.

I have an 89 Iroc 350/tpi and when i turn it on the engine starts the it just dies, like its not getting gas or something. There is gas in the car, i've checked fuses. Any ideas of the problem.

Thanks,

Patrick

does it run at all? or does it just die right away? it could be the Idle speed control motor (that is just what pops into my head) can you give us a little more detail on what exactly its doing? thanks

It runs for about 2 sec. then dies right away. I try and give it gas but doesn't do much. What other sort of information do you need?

do you know for sure if your fuel pump is working properly? if so do you have anyway of checking the fuel pressure? because if the pump is on its way out and isn't pumping enough pressure that could cause it. and I'm not saying this as an insult(its happend to me before :-) ) but have you checked things like your plug wires and made sure all of them were on tight? when was the last time you changed you plugs too?

ya, plugs and wires are fairly new, i was thinking fuel pump also, but its out on the street can't find a way to find out.

I'm having it towed tomorrow, but i was hoping i could maybe find out the prob first so i don't have to pay for a diag. on it.

Arcadia huh, I live in Sierra Madre. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? See if it holds rest pressure. 45 psi??? I think?

Any large vacuum leaks? Like maybe the brake booster line disconnected?

Where are you gonna tow it to?

Check/Replace Coil

I had a problem with my 91 RS where the coil output was low. It had spark just not enough, I had fuel, compression and timing too but no go, the computer showed no erros. I took it to 3 shops, the last being the dealership who found it.

Hope this helps....
