Wonky Oil Pressure Gauge

Hi,
I'm in the process of buying an 87 IROC with the 305 engine and auto trans. Car has 141,000 KMs on it. The car is in great shape. Only issue I've noticed is that the oil pressure gauge seems wonky. Seems to stay really high, then drop off. The tach also seems wonky, and doesn't seem to show the correct RPM, but not as bad as the oil pressure gauge. Would this be an issue with the gauge cluster, or the oil sending unit, or something else.
Mike

Re: Wonky Oil Pressure Gauge

Might replace the oil pressure sensor or temporary install a aftermarket gauge to monitor. As for the tach look into Cajun tach shop replacement circuit board.

Re: Wonky Oil Pressure Gauge

I'd replace the oil pressure sensor first and see what that does. Sometimes the gauges will be a little sticky if it hasn't ran regularly for a while, otherwise it could be corroded terminals on the circuit board. If the circuit board is toast, replacements are available.
