Aftermarket header options 87-92 TPI

hello,

looking for some help/ options. I have a 350 that I am rebuilding from my 1989 Camaro iroc. I am planning on doing after market heads (AFR, Dart, Flotek, Etc.) I have a OEM lower tpi manifold…From my understanding it sounds like I need a set of heads that have the 72° angled center bolts, straight spark plugs, and the bolt holes in the side of the heads for the fan switch and temp gauge sensors.

Does anyone know of any heads that has those options?? I had spoke to an AFR tech and he could only provide me options that had angled spark plugs instead of straight. I do plan on calling Flotek and Dart this week to see if they have any options that would work. Has anyone found an after market head that you have used/ bought that has had those options?

Looking to do a 180-200cc intake and a 64cc combustion chamber. I will be running shorty headers. I have read on other forums of guys putting angles spark plugs heads on, however, I’ve heard that it creates clearance issues. Any advice or leads are greatly appreciated!

When I had my SBC in the car I had Trickflow heads with angled plugs and Doug's long tube headers without issue. You've got a lot of "I've heard" in that post what kind of clearance issues are you talking about?? I think you might be in for an uphill battle looking for straight plug aftermarket heads I could be wrong tho.

I've had 2 different angle plug heads w 2 different sets of headers. I don't have any clearance issues. I have friends w angle plug heads and headers. They're good too. I think you'll be good w angle plug heads and headers.

appreciate the insight- there’s a few other forums that touch base on this subject and they all mention that they have to slightly modify there headers to allow angle plugs to clear. Granted none of them provided what headers they were running. The shorty headers that I have, came with the car so I have no idea what brand they are. There aren’t any markings either…

Hmmm that's weird my headers were 1.75" tubes and angle plug heads with zero modifications needed. Everything was bolted on, valves set then started up and drove away

Sounds good to me. I’m not opposed to angle plug heads. Seeing that my oe cast iron heads were straight plug I thought it would have been best to keep them straight. Think I’ll start looking into some angled plug options. Thank you
