If it passes it would be great. It just can't be a daily driver-have to have another car to use. Get classic car insurance (there are compnies that don't have mileage caps) and a historical plae. Then we would be smog exempt!!! I'd change out to a bigger cam/210 heads/D1x from P600b, HSR intake, full lengh headers.......

Smog laws there should have always exempted classics. Instead of going after the .0001% of potential polluters (classics), state government should instead focus on the REAL polluters---the utility companies and industry.
It's long past time for California to stop using a sledgehammer to drive a thumbtack. But it looks good to Joe Average when CARB goes after someone, even if it's a minor polluter.

When considering the FULL environmental impact of high-density battery production, use, and disposal, the case against a small percentage of occasional use vehicles killing the planet seems very difficult to substantiate. It is compounded by the fact that none of these "classic" vehicles are being produced any longer and will slowly diminish in numbers and presence to museum quantities, while the production of millions of tons of batteries is just barely beginning to ramp up, and could be in the system for a long, long time.
As usual, those who feel that they must be elected also feel compelled to appeal to some group to keep them in position, often at the expense of the greater good. It also applies to a lot more than our hobbies. The petroleum and liquid fuel energy industries are already in place, and will likely be that way for a long time. There is no practical alternate to fuel the 2-passenger private jets which those who must be elected need to use for their daily transits from San Jose to Oakland to San Francisco, thus they cannot possibly allow jet fuel disappear.

Re: Proposed legislation to help in Kalifornia
Because of the slow disappearance of parts from rhe market, I would be happy to see a "if it sniffs okay, it passes" program applied to a 1 model year per 2 calendar years rolling program. Programs that appeal to the collector market aren't doing anything the "register elsewhere" crowd aren't doing.
