Engine Shipping, in today's world?

Fastenal used to be a pretty great option....pretty sure that they don't do that anymore.

I need to ship an engine from here, to Maine in a few weeks....are there any good or stand-out options these days?

Re: Engine Shipping, in today's world?

I've had a few really large items shipped. Numerous 300 lb medium duty truck transmissions that were just little smaller than a SBC and numerous really large/heavy pieces of equipment/truck suspensions on palates. It all has gone through R&L carriers. I'm in CT. The best way is bringing it to a hub and shipping to a hub vs door to door. If you can find someone w an account it will save you even more.

Any LTL carrier who is a little hungry should be able to quote you readily. All you need is an origin address, destination address, dimensions, weight, and freight class. For a crated engine, the NMFC classification 60.0 for larger engines and 85.0 for lighter loads on larger pallets should work. It's a function of weight per cubic foot, and bear in mind that you normally pay for the deck space, not the weight.

You could try uship.com, as made famous by Shipping Wars on A&E channels. Of course if you have watched the show you may or may not want to hire some of those amateurs....
