Valve Seal Question

My '91 Z has almost 150,000 miles and I get the puff of smoke on start up from the valve seals. Compression is good and I don't burn any noticable amount of oil between oil changes. I'm planning on rebuilding the L98 this year and will probably go with aftermarket aluminum heads. Since this is the plan, I'm not going to go to the trouble to replace the seals on the stock heads now. Is there any additives I can add to the oil to help? I've heard adding a little ATF will help by making the seals swell. True? Thanks

Not really. The seals get hard and often crack, at which point no additive is going to make them heal.
