clicking sound underneath my pass. valve cover

what is this? would it be a faulty lifter or valve or what? it just started alittle while ago just kinda clicks its loud enough to hear even with the open element and the motor running what is it?

my car has that to, its a colapsed lifter. its sad I know, but I'm still driving, it just makes noise for now. no time to rip an engine apart. good luck

It could be that you just need to set the valve lash...or it could be a bunk lifter. I'd pull the valve covers and try to set you lash if I were you.

I had a similar problem... dont htink it was exactly "clicking" but my cat was loose, and the vibrations were making a sound at idle loud enough for soneone next to me to hear easily....

well it stopped now and i felt around and it didnt feel like a rocker hitting the valve cover or anything...my cat is really loose and has a huge hole in it but this was definetly coming from the cover but it stopped now so i dont know...how hard would it be to change the lifters while im doing a cam/intake swap? thats on my agenda soon

U simply pull out the old & install the new. Did U check your oil level? Low oil and really dirty, diluted, thin oil can also give your car a ticking sound.
