changed thermostat, now erratic idle problems and a few *other* things
o.k., my z was getting poor gas mileage, about 9 to 10 miles a gallon. my temp gauge is pegged and my oil gauge is reading zero. i also noticed that my car was running a little hot for it being the winter so i decided to change my thermostat. i went with a 180 stat and also got the necessary water outlet gasket. i took the old rtv and gasket off and installed the new one. as i was tightening the bolts down, i noticed the drivers side bolt was going in a little funny, i took it out and put it back in, same thing. i tightened it down and thought no worries. i then figured that i needed to adjust my IAB valve on my carb since i was running rich. i drilled out the rivets on the little airhorn thing and pulled off the cover. i start my car and it idled like complete crap. in park it idled at 500 rpm and was really rough. i tinkered with the screw (3 turns from all the way down is the base setting) and it idled fine when the screw was all the way down. i checked my vacuum lines and adjusted my timing, now my idle goes from 600 to 1100 in park. something in the back of my mind is tellin me that my distributor is to blame, or even my msd since i noticed somewhat of a funny idle before i started changing things. i took my car out for a spin and when it holds a certain rpm (like 2000, or 1500) it will sorta sputter out. when i floor it the car doesnt pull like it used to. im almost stuck on this problem so i come to you guys hoping for a fix-

the wierd thing about the cts, i replaced both the pigtail connecting harness, and the actual cts in the coolant crossover, to go along with the cts in the cylinder head. the sender in the head however, never worked quite right, it reads the temp about 60 degrees too much. the dumb air tubes are in the way and i cannot seem to get a wrench on it and put the old one back in its place.
