pulling only 6" of vacuum , no visible leaks, where to check?

like the topic says at idle im only pulling six inches of vacuum and my lines look good and solid, the connections are all good as well. could i be losing all the vacuum if my carb is shot? could i be losing vacuum if something was stuffed up my muffler? my heater vents are no longer working, could i have snapped a line somewhere going to my heater? im stuck....

Yeah, a good tune up and what is your idle like? Does it surge or real rough, and whats the RPM at?

get a propane torch, open the valve (DON'T LIGHT IT), move the tip around your vacuum lines and fittings, when the engine sounds different you've found where a hole is sucking propane in.

i just got done changing the plugs (which i thought would fix it) and it didnt do a thing. the cap, rotor and wires have about 3k on them. timing is at 0 degrees. i even bought a new coil and msd ignition, and i went back to my old ignition and coil and still nothing. the idle jumps around alot from 500 to 1k, and the wierd thing is it'll sit there for a few seconds, drop down and sit there for a while, then go back up. its wierd.

0 degrees?

Dial in some advance... anywhere from 4-12 degrees... advance till it pings, back off a bit and use good gas... you'll be fine...

FP good?

i have no clue as far as fuel pressure, as i havent put a gauge on it yet, but advancing my timing didnt seem to make much of a difference, it just made my car idle higher. i cant figure out why my idle jumps around like it does. this car is making me angry im about to smoke it like a joint at nate newtons house. well maybe not but im sure you guys know what its like when your car sits and goes nowhere forever.
