modifying heads for new springs

When I get my engine I'll be putting the lt4 hot cam in it, in order to put the stronger springs on what needs to be done to the heads? Does it need to go to a shop or can i do it myself? With the new springs will I need new retainers, valve locks, etc.?

that cam isnt too wild big so the retainers and such should be OK but there pretty cheap so its not a bad idea to get new ones. you can do the springs yourself, its not too difficult, if you have a good aircompressor you can do the swap without taking the heads off

match the springs to the cam, if they're larger diameter than stock you'll have to make the spring seats larger, job for machine shop. if you're running bigger lift maybe need to mill the tops of the valve guides. you need screw in studs with any lift over .475 so thats more milling, plus tapping holes. trash the stock retainer/rotator assembly and run after market retainers.
