I have a friend, he just bought what seems to be a moster of a 2.8 V6....

I had him start it up, and its missing...

there is an unplugged (exposed completely) tube from the air injection control valve (i think thats what it is) and the PCV tube is disconnected from the air cleaner assembly, the assembly itself has the dryer hose crushed and unconnected. I urged him to replace the plugs, and plug wires, pick up a dryer hose.

IMHO, he should plug that exposed air injection hose and see if it runs better at all...after which i know he should get an engine diagnostic done by a professional (although my tool shows basic problems)

what else can be done to aid him on his voyage to glory? Im strictly talking about maintaining the 2.8, and improving drivability and reliability.

 

The A.I.R. hose probably isn't hurting the way it runs. But, it should be fixed anyway.

Get all those little things fixed. Might even have other problems after that. But, until the little things are right, you won't know about the bigger things.
