Emissions testing w/ posi?

Does anyone know if a car equipped with posi is subject to a dyno emissions test in NY? I have heard that for safety reasons, they wont run a posi car on the dyno if you ask, and give it the standard sniff test. Anyone try this?

Only all wheel drive cars, they will run your limited slip. Nice try.

interestingly my RWD ford crown vic is emissions exempt in some states because it has "electronic traction assist".

tip: this works sometimes, drop the air pressure on one of your tires. it will usually either squeel or cause the car to sway on the dyno (especially true with FWD cars) . most places wont run the car on the dyno like that because it gets too difficult to hold a steady speed. most will just give you the sniffer instead. a FWD car is almost uncontrolable with a low tire, and will try and throw itself off the dyno. saw that a lot when i worked for emmissions in CT. just thought i'd throw that out there.

Interesting. Colorado has a dyno setup with a second set of rollers for all-time 4WD.

If it gets squirrelly on the dyno, they'll stop the test, give you a fix-it note, tell you to come back when it is (got one once for overheating). No easy-pass, no registration renewal until they can run it.

Oh, yeah: posi - no problem.
