Anyone See HorsePower TV today?
Not sure if this will get locked or not. But just wanted to see if anyone seen the show today, I think that was the name of it.
They put an Edelbrock RPM intake and carb on a Chevelle. It got them like 30hp I believe.
Now the sad part, they actually have a budget Honda buildup. What is the world coming to. They bought it for $3500 and are spending $8500 total. They put an intake and header on with free flowing exhaust. Only picked up 10hp from the stock 87hp (wow). Is that pathetic or what. Then they put on NOS and picked up 33hp with a small jet. Ended up making only 125hp or so.
I think that was a good idea for them to have the Honda on there, because it really shows, ther'e's no replacement for displacement. Put an new intake, with headers and free flow exhaust on a 3rd Gen and I'm quite sure you'll pick up more than 10hp.

Honda's are b!tchy lil cars. They want ALOT of TLC and attention. Thing is, I don't know if their Civic is an EX or DX, and there is a WORLD of difference between the 2. A guy at skool has a '01 Si with a bunch of pulleys, intake, DC Sports headers, I can't remember what exhaust, Jackson S/C, and he's got a NOS system but doesn't have the bottle filled right now. Last weekend he ran 14.1, but I don't know if that was on the bottle or not, and I don't think he's had it fine tuned either.
P.S. I did watch the show also, and remember, he said that was with the 55hp nozzle(although I forget what sizes he said they had... and it was a dry setup too, I imagine a fogger system would get a little more power)

The bottle ranged from 55-75hp.
How much would a small NOS system like that cost? That would be safe on a 350 wouldn't it. Thinking for the future, after head work and a new TC.

I mean why a Honda for a budget build up
They couldn't find a 3rd gen to bulid up on. I mean they could make a mean street machine with the money they are pouring into the Honda
The show is called Horsepower TV and last time I looked Hondas are not known for horsepower

Then on Popular Hot Rodding there was this guy that raced what looked like a 4th Gen QUAD turbo. That was nasty looking.

Man....I think Honda's are great cars. But when it all comes down to it they are in the ECONOMY CLASS for a reason. Trying to make a race car out an "economy car" (even tho a new Civic is like 18 grand) is like trying make a pig fly.
ARG...The Fast and the Furious ruined it for everyone! I went to buy an NOS kit for my '85 IROC...you wouldn't believe it, but I had to DIG in Jegs website for 30 minutes just to find one!!!! All I saw was NOS for '96 Integra...NOS for '98 Civic 1.6 VTEC...and so on.

I think the world should have more civics in it, it would just make my car look better, not to defend a civic, but if you have 200hp in a 2400ibs car your pretty zippy. I had a fiero and would love to buy another, my car had 95hp, but could easily match my car now just because it weighed 1000lbs less then my t/a. the more ricers in the world the more unique our cars become. and keep in mind if everyone was as crazed about our cars as they were jap crap then our parts would be expensive and we could not even afford our cars.
I saw the show today and I was disappointed that there budget is $8500 for the honda. Like you all said, there is much better ways to demonstrate NOS applications. It is a sign that the import guys are starting to gain acceptance (somewhere) but not here in chevyland. Now the guy on here that has a TPI V-8 in a RX7 now that's a freakin' cool idea. I like those kinds of imports. A friend of mine that goes to lincoln tech is putting a 350 into a datsun 240z, i'll be waiting for a ride.

I couldnt believe that chevelle with a 325 horse 396 only put down 223 horsepower to the wheels. I love the 60's and early 70's muscle cars, but they must have been over rated from the factory.

I saw the Fast & the Furious. Too bad they trashed the only good car. All that buzzing started to get annoying too. I didn't think it was that great of a movie. Running 9s for $10,000 seem to be pushing it.
I hate the fast and the furious. and I don't think those cars could run 11's. have you seen the imports that run 10's or 9's? you can freaking drive em on the road! they are ALL race cars. most 4 banger's mentallity is had plugs wires and a muffler and youhave a 10 sec car. for instance my friend just got a 240sx (160hp) he said that if he added muffler, chip, wires and plugs and a k and he would have 400hp+ and would run 10's. whatever, loser :-)
Sorry people, but it looks like we just ran all the "Tech" out of this topic. Given the state of the server, I don't think we need to eat bandwidth with something that would be really great over at NEThirdGen.org...
