83 CFI and a new cam?

I've got an 83 TA that I want to keep mostly stock, but I know there's a few issues with it. Got valve float, so I'm replacing the valve springs. My dad (25 year mechanic) also thinks I'm having pressure issues with the lifters, so I wanna replace those. Looking through the Summit catalog, I'm noticing that I can get a Crane cam with a set of lifters for not very much more than just a set of lifters. Which cam would you guys recommend for my never touched before setup? And where can I find out what the original cam's specs are?

Gilmour,

If my data is correct for an '83 the EFI cam specs are as follows (the book isn't really clear on the CFI engines):

0.385" / 0.403" - 194° / 204° - 110° LSA

Not highly impressive, but certainly better than the LB9 "LA" cam grinds. A Comp XE-256 might be a good place to start looking, or possibly a Crane 2030. Just a good starting point, and remember that there are a lot of variables in a camshft choice.
