Someone help, need to pass emissions test!!!!!
Just my first camaro. It is an 84 z28 with a 350 boared .30 over. It doesn't run off the computer, and none of the scensors are hooked up. See my problem. I live in maryland, so they have strict emission laws. Is there anything I can do to get my car to pass. Also, my car has headers and a daul flowmaster exhaust. If anybody could just tell me a way to get my car to pass I would really appreciate it.:hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail:

I don't know much about emissions laws, but the first thing I would do is call the DMV or an inspection station and find out what the requirements are. Some states have visual inspection i.e. if you car came with a catalytic converter and air pump, then they look for that. There may or may not be testing involved. There's probably something on the www about this too.

Once you understand where you're deficient, you'll have to decide what to do. Maybe you'll get lucky...

when you go, try and get a younger perwson, they dont know about AIR systems a lot. retard your timing a couple degrees and turn your fuel pressure down. you can buy this bottle of stuff from o'reilly's that gaurantess you will pass your inspection. you dump it in, run the tank almost till its out, then go in for the inspection. try it, gotta friend with a 87 GN turbo turned way up and straight pipes and he has never had a problem.

 

the stuff mattRS is talking about is called All-U-Need made by Bardahl's. $6. I've used it a couple times and passed emissions, but I'm not sure if it works or not cuz I may have been able to pass without it.

 

lean the carb out so far that the thing barely runs. it used to work for my dad but the test may be more strict now.

 

i have a 305 tbi with a gutted cat is there a way i can pour that stuff in and mess with my timing so i pass?

 

use that stuff and retard your timing a couple degrees, you should be able to pass. if you dont, the company that makes the stuff will pay you back 2x for the bottle.

 

My car does have the cat convertor on it and has a flowmaster exhaust. But it does not have the air pump on it. How would I retard the timing on it, and would I have to have a timing gun to set it back exact or could I just mark it. Oh, and by the way, thanks for all the responses trying to help me out.
