No power in 1st or 2nd gear

It seems like no matter what I do, I can't pull in 1st gear, and only a little better in 2nd. In 3rd gear I always pull hard.
Whats up? I'm thinking my transmission is giving up, but that's the only thing I can figure out.

GM Goodwrench 350, Performer RPM intake, Holley 600 cfm carb [yes vacuum advance distributor] , and Edelbrock headers. non-World Class T5 also. I've recently been toying with secondary springs recently since I got a quick change kit for the carb.

Well, I don't like to redline in 1st gear, so I usually shift at 3500 or 4000 rpm. Second gear i usually take it out to 5,000 rpm which is redline. 1st gear it's pretty much the whole rev range that is screwy.
