Non-thirdgen but still need help please....
Well i finally sold my dodge avenger so I can bring my camaro out of storage and drive finally drive it (mom doesn't wanna pay insurance for 2 cars for me....dunno why
)
The thing is that i got screwed a bit... Like i said i sold the avenger, but i still have it for another week or so until i can get the title (have to send the final payments to the bank and get the title), but i'm pretty sure my water pump is almost dead. Monday morning, and today at school the antifreeze overflow tank was bone dry, w/ all of it spilled on the ground
So my question is, how much should it cost to have a shop replace it?? I tried putting some radiator sealant in there to see if it'll help any (or if its anything else). Thanks... (and say a prayer for me please
)

well... my dad had his replaced for like $350 or so... It all depends on the car. Your best bet is to call around for an estimate. Pretty much all of the shops are going to try to get the most money out of u. If you do it yourself (if your mechanicaly inclined) it can cost as little as $35 for pump, rtv, and anti-freeze
ok thanks...
I didnt think the pump would be that expensive at all... just the labor.
I would normally be willing to replace it w/ my dad but there are two factors.... 1) It's freeeezing cold here and we don't have a heated garage and 2) The engine compartments in avengers are small as hell, and everything is cramped...not sure how we would get it out w/o yankin the motor
But thanks for the info... i'll see if it still leaks, and if it does i'll call around to some shops
