had a throw down with a bolt today........during the battle i contemplated removing the water pump pulley so i could get a better bite.........i installed the water pump myself(its an edelbrock aluminum)........how do you loosen the bolts on the face of the pulley? what do you use to keep the pulley from turning without marring the pulley all up? i was gonna use channel locks and a rag but was afraid id bend or warp it........oh and the bolt lost
and no i dont remember what i did when i put the bolts on but it was a bit easier with the water pump out of the car

how do you get an impact wrench inbetween the pulley and the radiator? Air ratchet then. Don't put the socket on the bolt, leave it off so it gets a running start at the bolt. Just hold the pulley with a rag in your hand and be prepared to let go in case it doesn't break loose. Usually works pretty good for me.

i just did it the old fashoned way w/ my last car and held it still w/ my hand and loosend them that way... Its a real PITA but it worked. The other more sane option is to use a strap wrench to hold the pully still while removing the bolts. You can get a chain type from Sears. Thats what i would recommend
Beat it with a hammer. If that doesnt work, go buy a pump action 12 gauge and a box of slugs.
You might have been able to have some one else use a pry bar between one of the belts, that is if it was slipping.

Use a wrench to hold one of the bolts and use a rachet and socket ont he one you want to remove, once they're all loose wedge the wrench between or against one of the partially backed out bolts and use it as leverage.
Attached is a very basic diagram. Don't mock my mspaint skillz.
