Question..casting numbers....

My friends got a 305 block. He believes it to be a L69. The casting #'s on the block read LG5.0 SGI. Then on the other side it reads14093627. Is it possible that its an LG4?? Thanks-Rock

Casting number 14093627 = 1988-1994 305 engine.

Casting numbers don't tell you very much. The same casting can be used on many different models over a number of years. Look for a suffix code on the pad in front of the passenger side head. The suffix code will tell you a lot more about an engine. The suffix code will be stamped into the block.

He's right. The casting number doesnt make an L69 and L69. It's the better cam and better exhaust manifolds... etc that do.
