code 13 after header installation

Im getting a code 13, Oxygen sensor signal stays lean during warm engine cruise, after about 10 min of driving on the highway. I didn't replace the O2 sensor, since I replaced it a couple months ago. i do have a SLIGHT leak which i think is near the collectors. BUT i do not have the AIR system working right now. The box and hoses going to the headers aren't hooked up. is there any chance that is the cause of my code 13?

code 13 is not the lean signal
code 14 is the lean signal
code 13 is not signal coming from the o2 sensor at all i would check the wiring
if thats not bad you need a new o2 sensor
when i did not have it hooked up in my car i got a code 13
check wiring or replace it

Most people I have heard from recomend a heated 3 wire O2 sensor when running headers. I guess sometimes a stocker can't reach operating temp with the difference in heat retention of headers. This might or might not be relavent, but you should consider one if it isn't already set up as such.

14 is definatley High temperature indicated at engine coolant temp. sensor ...

but iv seen a few diff. things for 13.. TGO says 13. Oxygen sensor signal stays lean during warm engine cruise

while my TPI books justs says O2 sensor circuit (open)

oh well ill do the obvious and check the wiring later

Breathe,

You are correct - TGO is wrong. The '14' is for a CTS circuit short (high temp fault) on your engine. A '13' is for O² signal loss or out of range - not a "constant lean in cruise" - that would be a '44'.

Check your wiring and grounding on the headers, and make sure the exhaust gets nice and hot.

Not having the A.I.R. connected won't matter once the ECM is in closed loop, at least as far as the O² sensor is concerned, unless of course you have air leaks at the A.I.R. fittings on the headers.

i havent had any problems with the o2 sensor giving me codes and i tore all the smog crap off luckily our carsonly have 1 o2 sensor unlike my dads mustang or the newer style camaros...cant even run a off-road h pipe on my dads because it takes o2 reading after a set of cats...then it goes into another set of cats....hear the new mustang GTs have 6 cats...why??
