I have some roller lifters out of a 3 year old 305 crate motor, along with the spider assembly and front cam plate and pushrods....thinking about using it.

Right, as long as they're not damaged or worn out; they don't wear uniquely to the cam surface like flat tappets do.

i know they dont wear into a cam but what about the rolling mechanism itself? would suck to reuse em and have one break apart, is this possible? i mean the roller is on the lifter with some type of pin isnt it?
