Need stock diameter valve springs good for .480 lift??
I have the comp 280H cam with 230 duration & .480 lift. It's in a 75' model 350 block with 70' Model 400 heads (598 casting). I am getting better heads later...btw
I just need some springs that will last for now...
It seems like every spring Compcams makes is bigger that 1.25". Can I use the LT4 springs (used in the HOT cam kit)? Or just regular LT4 springs? Will it be OK to use the LT4 springs which are for a hyd. roller cam? I was thinking they may put too much pressure on the flat tappet cam.
What all is out there that I can use? I'm looking to spend 30-35 bucks.
(edit: I need stock diameter springs because I am not going to machine the heads.)
thanks!

Try a set of K-motion K-700 springs. They'll work fine with your Comp 280magnum cam and stock retainers and keepers.
Most speed shops can get them. Or order them thru Summit.

i built a 355 once with a .480 lunati cam and used stock diameter lunati springs, don't know the number right now and don't have a catalog, but it shouldn't be hard to find out if you look.

factory springs can go .49 if properly setup
but.. it will shorten the life.
The seat pressure on a HOT-LT4 spring is ok for flat tappet.

Those springs are 1.25" and only about 25 bucks new.
