Running too rich?
Running too rich?
I was gonna post this in the capb section, but I notice that after driving for about a week, my back bumper is greasy. I think it comes from the exhaust. I have checked my oul and i don't think i am burning too much. I was told i could be running too rich because my friend could smell the oil/fumes from my exhaust. But I have no cat, just a pipe. is that the reason? I just bought the car about a month ago, so i need to learn a bit more.

yea no cat will cause worse emmissions for sure. but you shouldn't get that much coming out your pipes.
check that you aren't leaking anything, dif fluid, tranny fluid etc.
if you have a leak the oil can get blown back and picked up by the exhaust and onto your bumper
you can check your plugs and instantly know if your car is running rich.
If you are running rich on idle, whip out your edelbrock book and tune your idle mix for their 'lean best' setting.
