Transgo Shift kit.... Worth getting or not

Hey

I have a 1985 IROC Z Camaro with the 305 TPI engine and 3.42 gears. I am wondering if that transgo shift kit is worth getting or not. I am wondering if they are any good for thr 700R4 transmission. Will it imrove my 1/4 mile times at all. And what kind of results will I get...

P.S will I have to get a better torque converter, someone told me that

yes it's worth it and no you won't have to change the torque converter.

You asked this on the tranny board, that's where I replied, but yes it's the only REAL shift kit.

You want the real answer? I hate mine... it upped my shift points to 6000 rpm. There is no power after 5200 rpm let alone anything at 6000 rpm. I would really suggest the parts used in the transmission of the C4 corvette's. They have a tame shift at moderate throttle and a barking screech at WOT. They can be had for very cheep, I believe about $90 or less.

Just my experience.

redirocz28, if your rpm is that high for shifting then you need to work on the governer assembly as it says in the instructions. the shift points won't always be perfect. as far as improving et's, yes it will.

Yep. Mine needs a major recalibration, right now in D the car shift around 2500 rpms, that's why I usually manually shift when I want to go faster.
