another cam dillemma

Who all thinks the comp cam XE262 (.462 int .469 exh) is a good cam for my setup (in sig), or should i get the next step up, with is i think XE268 (.477 int .488 exh)? Also is 88.50 a good price for the XE 262? Any and all comments welcomed, also anyone with experience with either of these cams with a similar 305 set up please reply. Thanks.

well personally I think that is alot of cam for a 305... it will be pretty lopy... I have a friend that has the 256 cam in a 350 pontiac,it has a very noticable lope... just from hearing that 350 run I would think a 305 would need alot of mods to benefit from a cam like that, though there are alot of factors when choosing a cam like gears heads intake trans ect... This is just my opinion but the only department that i would rather be to small than to big in is the cam department... what else do you plan on doing to it? Maybe someone else has some advice....

well the only other future mods i plan on doing is heads, probably L31 vortec, and 3.73 posi. right now i have all the mods in my sig minus the heads cam, and i have a t5 tranny and 3.23 rear. the car pulls pretty hard as it is, but i want a bigger than stock cam, as i have inherited everyones bastard child, the "peanut".

The 262 is fairly big for your 305.....

The 268 is waay to big for it unless you start modding it seriously (heads FOR SURE, up the compression ratio that VORTEC will drop, ) and you'll have to really wind it up in the RPM range.

256 is my opinion, but if it is a choice between these two, definetly the 262
