First off, nice car.

Secondly, swap in some 3.73's and get yourself some good, sticky rear tires to help it hook.

What kind of $$$ are you looking to play around with?

Port and polish the intake and plenum. Cold air induction. Good aftermarket headers and exhaust.
Loose the windshield sticker

Full exhaust from headers back, u will see a huge difference. Think about replacing those cats too with some high flow ones.

Depending on how much $$ you got, first thing always to do is K&N, HEADERS & EXHAUST. then do gears.. those mods will help a TON!

45 tpi ............ Usually don't do that, oh well, really though , the difference is cylinder/ piston bore and sizing I think.

exhaust and higher stall converter would be a great start.

the 305 has smaller cylinder bore, smaller heads, pretty much smaller everything, except for the intake is the same on the 305 and 350 tpi i think.Definetely get the full exhaust and maybe port your runners/plenum or buy new ones...youll see a huge difference there, since the stock intake was designed for the 305,then get the 3.73's,and youll be beating mustangs.Go to summitracing.com or jegs.com to get some ideas on pricing.

If you have the G92 5-speed 305, then not a whole lot. The injectors have a higher lb/hr rating and a 1.84 intake valve, 58cc chamber heads and thats about it between the two engines. 230hp compared to 245hp thats about 15hp difference for the cubic inch difference. If you dont have the G92 305, its got mostly parts from the 305 TBI; except the heads are wayyy better.

I agree, plus some gears, depends on how long you race for if it's 1/4mile don't get 3:73s, 3:42s will work best with TPI.
Full exhaust headers and a cat-back, being on a budget, headers Edelbrock $300, exhaust Hooker cat-back $200 (sound clip is in the signature), gears and a TC.
Right there you'll knock well over a 1 second off your time, which would be low 13s. That's what you'll need to keep up with Stangs. The newer ones GTs run 14.2 stock, and around where I live good luck on finding a stock 80s style one, most are in the high 13s.

By the way, I love your car.

come on guys, chill out on the sticker issue.. its his car, not yours. If he likes it, then thats all that matters. Thats why there is opinions out there, everyone has them.. cridom did not come here posting a subject that says " LIKE MY STICKER? " he is asking how to go faster, we need to stick to the point here.. he likes the sticker, good for him... thats my 02

You'd have to get a different motor, being on a budget like you are, you can still get that 305 to run decent times.

With some mods you can run with a Mustang I have. I raced a guy at work 2 nights ago with a 95 Mustang GT 5-speed and beat him in the 1/4 but after that he had me. Good thing we were only running a 1/4. First thing is to completely tune it up. Get new Plugs, Wires, Cap, Rotor, Aftermarket Ignition Coil, Change all the fluids. Then check IAC and TPS Adjustments. Then modify or get a new Air Intake like a K&N filter and then start working on the exhaust.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but from some of your questions, it sounds like you are new to this. If anything we say is something you have never heard of, or just can't figure out, just ask. If you don't feel like posting it on the board, you can always send a personal message (PM) to someone.

Mod for mod a 350 will go faster than a 305, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't stick with what you have. Engine swaps are big $$ (if you pay someone) or time intensive if you do it yourself. Also, a lot of parts are interchangeable, so you can reuse them if you decide to change from 305 to 350 later on.

I agree with everything you just said. I wouldn't be ashamed to ask anything on this board, I'm far from an expert on stuff, and I'm not afraid to ask a question, that's the only way I'll learn.

Do you have a lock box compartment in your hatch area, there should be a rpo sheet in there.

Don't think so Mark. I have a 91' TA convertible. There is a well under the trunk, but no locking panels. Not sure where else to look.

The car is a 305 with 5 speed. It has a single cat since it is a convertible.

You could always go the nitrous route. Fairly cheap unless you are emptying the bottle every night. The civic boys swear by it, so it must be good!
