Freeze plug

How do you remove a stuck freeze plug? I've got a 327 with a front freeze plug stuck.

drill a hole in the middle of it... thread a large, self tapping screw into the hole (or one of those wall anchors with the legs if the hole strips)... then use the closed end of a crowbar under the head of the screw to pry it out.

Thought so. I think I'll have to use a lag bolt. Thanks for the help!

i made my own little tool for that. just got a spade type wedge and rounded the end of a little. then i just hammer the bottom or side of the freeze pluge until it is sitting sideways in the hole. then you can usually just grab them and pull them out, or put a screwdriver under the lip on them and tap them out. its alot easier than drilling....just be sure you dont hammer the plug INTO the hole...
