I was watching a thing on it last night with the new GMC trucks and the 2500 series has the 8.1 liter 496 (not diesel) I heard from a few people thjat test drove them that they are pretty quick. I was just wondering if y'all heard anything about them. Also I saw another special on some of the trucks have quad steering which is u want to all 4 wheel can turn at once or whatever. It was pretty interesting.

yeah and thats the 5.3 imagine the 496. I heard the 5.3 stock is 320 horse and 370 IBS of torque. All there engines have that vortec system.

 

496 is 340 hp and 455 lb ft torque!!!

My dad has one in a 3500 full size van with 4.10 gear. it pulls ou spitfire like nothing, doesn't even set the suspension down a bit. The motor runs damn strong for a bigass van.

fuel economy on the freeway going 75 with the trailer and spitfire: 13 mpg. not too bad considering the coffee can size pistons and femur length rods!
