I'm not sure how well CFI works down low, but I hear it's not a intake to have. Sorry, I can't tell you how close you'll be. My guess would be 1/4 he's got you by about 5 car lenghts at the least.

cross fire injection really sucks..or should i say cease fire injection. Race him for the hell of it but I say the vette has you on this one. If you had a 305 TPI 5 speed or a 350 TPI i'd give this one to you but not this time.

the crossfire corvette was the slowest C4 ever produced. typically, with auto or stick they ran low 15s. alot of people on the vette forum port their Xfire manifolds and gain a half second or more. this guy is probably not modded, as the aftermarket for crossfire engines is limited. but since you have a TBI motor, youll most likely lose this one

cross-fire is just as good as any...

my cross fire fuel injection 305 will stomp a 84 vette and stock tpi's
as for ur race, the vette will win but ull be catching up to him after he hits about 70mph. i promise i have a buddy who owns this car, but the vette will take off way hard off the line!!

you beat TPI Vettes with your xfire 305? wow! thats pretty impressive! bone stock, my 89' Vette went 13.9. what exactly do you have done to your car that would knock off 2 whole seconds?

CFI itself doesnt suck....it just sucks from the factory. Way underdeveloped. Does anyone happen to remember the Cross-Ram on the old 302 Z28's? Thats where CFI comes from and oh yeah what a ***** car that 302 Cross Ram was

For a car that demanded the kind of $$$ it did in the day, '84 vettes are dogs. They had the cool new body style and everything but they carried over the L83 cease-fire motor from the '82 model year. They run 15s stock. The next year they went to TPI and knocked over a second off that. Lucky me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't 84 Vettes the worst year for them? One of my neighbors has one, bone stock. When he gets on it, it doesn't really impress me too much.

i cant beat a 85 tpi vette...

for the dude with all the firebirds and T/A's
if ur neighbors 84 vette should impress you
it can beat every one of ur cars. the 92 bird u have
would probably take it but im not positive.
my car has
18k on a new 305
no cat
3inch exhaust
80 series muffler
shorty hooker headers
no ac belt or compressor that was removed
no cat belt that was removed
accel cap and rotor
accel super coil
morso blue max wires
bosch plat 4 plugs
160 stat
2500 rpm stall converter
700 r4 with vette servo
heavyier duty clutches
i think a 3/4 cluth pak or something like that
a transgo shift kit
3.73 gears with eaton posi
k and n's of course
and 255/60/15's on the back for traction

Remember...

The Vettes still weigh a lot less than Firebirds/Camaros. And yes, the 1984 Vette is not exactly the fastest Corvette, but even so they do get up and go!
Take weight into consideration.
It also had the manual 4+3 OD tranny.

It was the best handling production vehicle ever produced regardless of price with .95G. Only 6,443 came with a manual transmission, and only 410 came with the performance axle ratio. 3,729 had Delco/Bilstein shocks installed. The 1984 Corvette could go from 0-60 in 6.9 seconds and topped out at an at the time incredible 140mph.

Not bad for 1984.

If it helps any I have an 1/8 mile time on one of those 84'vettes. It ran a 9.39 at 76.82 mph. 60' was 1.97 r.t. .611 wish my scanner worked or I would post some of my timeslips. Not all of them are me racing somebody, but ones that got thrown out or that I asked people if I could have. I will try to get one of those cheapy walmart ones soon.

Someone's been reading that standard catalogue of Chevrolet

Hey jesse83cfi, you might want to replace that puny stock cam and maybe think about some heads before you go challenging any big dogs

Hey, I never said that it couldn't beat my cars, I just said it didn't impress me, for a Corvette that is. I feel sure I can take it in my 76 Trans Am when I get it going good, in a stright line. 400 block, 350 6x heads, Erson RV cam(I think, that's what the guy I bought the car from said), Holley 1850 4bbl, built TH400 with a 2800 stall, and some other junk too. The 92 might even have a shot if I didn't have a friggin 2.73 rearend.
