raced a GTP
I was in the left lane at a stoplight and there was a Beretta Z26 in the middle and a newer style 2 door GTP in the right lane. I didn't think anything of it untill the guy in the GTP honks his horn and when I look over he points ahead like he wants to race, so I figured why not, there wasn't any traffic ahead. The light turns green and the GTP and I leave off idle to avoid roasting the tires, He hit it and spun a little, I rolled into the throttle and the tires started spinning around 3/4 throttle, I hit 2nd and the tires spun again, by 65mph I had put 2.5-3 car lengths on him and pulling hard. The guy in the Z26 either was really slow or he didn't race, but he was well ahead of the normal traffic, so I think he shut down earlier than we did. After I slowed back down I noticed that there was a LT1 Trans Am behind me, but he didn't try to keep up, I wish he would have.

Good race man!
My friends got a GTP and itchin to race. How do you think a mostly stock 350 IROC would do against one?

Is your friends GTP stock? If it is, you'll beat him without a problem. I would race him from a standstill so you can use your lowend torque, if you race from a cruising speed it would be close because the GTP's can breath much better up-top than the TPI's can. Little things do a lot on those cars, you can get a pulley for around $100 that will add 30-40hp. They can run 13's without a lot of work.

Yea he's all stock, but ordered a pulley yesterday
He drives a 96 Grand Prix, ripped out his old engine and put in a 3800 Supercharged. I'm going to race him before the pulley
His stock exhaust is absolutely terrible.Thank you very much for the info

My brother-in-law has a 2000 GTP 4-door. The thing makes about 240 hp and is pretty quick. I haven't raced him yet, but hopefully soon. I'm surprised hos quick it is for a big 4-door car.
