It was a 2.8. What the hell did you expect? I was at a light in a 55mph zone, so I felt comfortable. A camaro was in the left lane so I saw the red light and moved to the outside. I figured- 305 he/she will pull off from me after 15 or 20. But it was quieter so I was then pretty sure it was a 2.8. This was something that had interested me for a while so I prepared to move off the light as fast as the Crown could move. It turned green and I rolled a nailed it. She stayed with me up to about 45 and then I pulled away. She flew by at about 65 or 75 and I saw a that it was in fact a 2.8. Damn...thought they were faster. Thought I was slower. Altho, I tell ya, premium gas works wonders for the LTD. I decided to give it a run the other day and decided to see how the tire(s) spin. It nearly got sideways. I was impressed. Haven't got my tranny work done yet, and I hate having that in the sig and not having it done. But I ran out of money and I'm still waiting on a couple of checks to come in. I lost my little part time job when my father died and I wanted to be sure of the Vic's running order before getting another one. I don't want to tarnish my record any further.

Yea those 2.8s aren't the fastest things around. Not very hard to beat. My neighbor across the street has a V6 Camaro and that thing is slow as hell. Well congrats on the kill.

Can't get much slower than a 2.8L 3rd Gen. Good kill though.

3.73s and still slow?
Got to admit tho, it was a quality engine and it had a cool name. Why the hell didn't they use that name on a v8 or something?
Well anyway, thanks for they replies and they friendliness. Sometimes I get nervous when I post on sites like these.
This may be off subject, but I've been trying to calculate hp and quarter mile times for the olds. Yeah, it's pathetic, but since the thing is going to have to wait a while longer, I need to at least figure out what it's going to be like.
From my very lenient opposite of rice-boy methods, I have a ballpark estimate. Depending on what mods I have, it will have at least 220 hp and doubtfully more than 265 (with heads, headers, and at the most). Quarter mile times of 220 hp(14.6-15.3), 265hp(13.7-14.4). Which is bench racing, but at least it keeps me busy.
I just remembered something about my old job. I could waste nearly every person who worked there with the LTD. Oh I let a good thing go bad. There was one guy who either drove an old Ranger or a Dodge Spirit. Another drove a Tempo. Another with a newer Ranger. A Volare 225 slant 6, a 2.8 Camaro....But there were a few that could cause me trouble: a 95 maxima, 9? Stanza, and a HO 95 Grad Am. Damn that's sort of sad.
I'll be glad when I get that Olds finished and broken in. Hell, even if it won't be the fastest thing around, I can make up for some of the gap. I have before.
Most of the people here seem to be safe, good drivers. You don't see that too often in TN. And I've been coast to coast.

Hey hey...now I admit my beautiful old '89 RS 2.8 was not the fastest thing by any stretch...BUT, I was able to keep up easily with cars that should've nailed me. Its all in how you drive it

Very true. I have beaten cars and trucks that were considerably faster than me with every vehicle I've driven.

The whole trick is to go when they dont know that you are racing!

That was the only way I could race when I was driving my Toyota pick-up

Yeah I know all about that. But it is in a way in the same vein as a flyby. I take great pains not to fly by. Gives the other person more opportunity to waste me again and again, but what the hell. I'm not into surprise wins. It is fun to irritate people you know in faster cars tho. I used to race a coworker nearly every night. Subaru vs Ranger and then a Spirit. It was always fun for some reason.

uh oh, correction...
I said earlier, "Most of the people here seem like safe drivers...." I didn't mean here, where I live, I meant here, members of the board.
