The fiero weighs a LOT less than your camaro. It would beat you.

I used to drive a 86' Fiero SE with a V6. Once I raced a friend with an 84' Camaro with a V8 in it. I beat him and he had a V8, the Fiero will blow you away.

hey 86camaroSC i live here on the rock too. i'm in st.john's. You know the custom car shop that used to be on topsail road? well they had a fiero up 20 feet on poles for a sign. last week they went out of buisness and the car came down. no motor, no frame, no axles, but it got a sweet body and wheels. the guy who got it lives a few doors up from me. a pretty good project. i'll try to get some pics up for ya.

BTW; I am also on the nfimports site justin3300, and i know your there too.

ABTW; don't drag a fiero in your car...sorry, but they are pretty quick.especially not a formula!

How would my car fair against a Fiero? I have always wondered how those cars perform. When we saw one in a parking lot my friend said that it could probably take me.

One of my buddies has an 88 formula. It is mint he takes it to car shows and stuff. And let me say that car is no slouch. He doesn't drag here every weekend like most of us but he has beat his fair share.I know it will throw U back in your seat hard and goes so fast the steering goes dead(done that a few times)

So I think he has U.

What, steering go dead??? At best that car is a mid 14 second car, so it isn't that fast. Not to say that's not good, but any 3rd Gen with a TPI V8 will throw you back in the seat, ahhh Torque gotta love it.

Where we did this was on a long straight road.that is on a big downhill then goes flat.(alot of people race here also)And it took a long while to get going to that fast but where doing about 120-130 and U could turn the steering wheel.I guess the car is so light it was starting to come off the ground? Not sure.

I know another kid who said he has doen the same thing in his fiero

I can confirm that the steering gets light above about 95mph in a V6 Fiero. I have had that unsettling feeling more than a couple of times, years ago.

I miss my Fiero. I should have hung onto it.

mid 14s in a stock fiero? that doesnt sound right. did they really run this number with only a 140 hp motor and a 5speed? i thought high 15s tops. all in all though, id still like to own a later model GT

I thought he was referring to the 88 Formula, and I was saying at best the car is a mid 14 car.

One of my ex-girlfriends had a 4cyl 5speed Fiero, and I don't know what kind of ETAs it would've turned, but it was damn fast! It gave my 350 TBI 5-speed a run for its money. I even beat two 2nd Gen F-bodys in it, a 305 Bird and a 350 Camaro.

He'd probably get you off the line, due to your 2.73s, but if you kept going you'd probably catch up eventually.

How fast are those cars in the 1/4? Eventually, does that mean I would lose the race. Eventually sounds like more than a 1/4 mile.

I am faster than that. If he were to take me off the line I wouldn't eventually catch up. With my mods I should catch up pretty quick.

One other thing..I read last year in one of the Chevy mags, or possibly Car Craft or Hot Rod, that a Northstar from a Caddy would drop right in to the engine bay...if you run across one of those....i think you would be toast....

This may not be a straight line race, but theres a guy around here, he's real cool, and has an Iron Duke Fireo. People thought he was nuts... he spent so much time on it and made it one of the cleanest, best taken care of cars i've ever seen. He added a header (just one since its an I4) and some exhuast stuff, don't know what, and lowered it along with other suspension mods. Top it off with late 90s Z24 cavalier wheels. He took it to the local auto-X meet and STOPMED almost EVERYONE! It weighs like nothing, and what mass it has is SO low, I mean a 2" drop on one of those things is quite a bit.

My former flight instructor has an 88 Fiero GT, and informed me that a GTP engine is pretty much a direct bolt in! 3.8L supercharged v6 would be a great package for those cars

That would be seriously sweet. Those aren't that hard to come by either, down at one recycler in my town (too organized to be called a junkyard, and they don't let you out in the lot without somone) there were 3 sitting in stock.

Yea, those engines push the GTP's into the 13's no sweat on a 4,000lb -ish car, and powering the wrong wheels. Imagine what it would do for a 3,000 lb car powering the rear wheels
