The Impala is heavy, I drove a 96' and it didn't impress me. It has 260hp. An IROC 5.7L can take it.

My buddy had a 96 for a while. He had catback exhaust, a K&N and an airfoil.

I raced him in the '85 and he BARLEY edged me out...less than 1/2 a length.

I am sure a 350 car would win...with traction

I saw three (ss) at the track on the same day, one pulled low 15s another mid 15s and the last very high 15s or maybe it was low 16s, I was still very impressed for being a heavy car

Be careful to make sure it's an Impala, and NOT a clone that was made from a cop spec Caprice.

My cousin did such with his 94 9C1 (I think that's the rpo code for the police package) Caprice, and had the 4200 pound car running 14.69 in the 1/4 mile This on the factory steel wheels that the cop cars got.

This is what he has told me, so take what I am saying with a grain of salt. I'm not trying to say it is the gospel.

9C1 package doesn't add any power, just gets a higher amp alternator, silicone coolant hoses, engine oil cooler, and a couple of other things.

My LT1 is from a 95 Caprice 9C1 with 48K miles. I am dropping in an LT4 Hot Cam Kit to bring the power up some, 260hp isn't enough for me.

ROTFLMFAO

my friend has a cop car caprice

since it was a cop car, it was run to the ground and beat to hell

he's needed like $4000 worth of work, and needs a head job thanx to a loss of compression on all cylinders

he paid $5000 for that bomb, its in terrible shape

he got bent over and fukked IMHO

he coulda got a way nicer car IMHO

but he says he wants to keep a low profile and have lower insurance

i feel really sorry for him

well, i would think that the cop cars didn't get the luxury seats.

im not disputing, this is just what my cousin has told me.

if i see it in person, i'll try and get a timeslip, and a list of mods

the car is damn quick, though

it threw my head against the headrest, and accelerated from 25 to 90 within 10 seconds or so

My cousin has a 96' Impala SS with the LT1 and it seems pretty fast. I dont know if it will take an IROC but it is the smoothest 100mph car I have ever felt. Lighten that car up and it would be bad a$$
