Depends, what does your car run at the track? I beat a 305 with a 3.1, in a cav though. Your weight is what kills ya. I would say without more info the 305 has ya Just my opinion

I have a 92 3.1 5 Speed, slights mods. I havenot spent over $200 yet on mods THAT ARE ON THE CAR( I have about 500 waiting this summer) But I consistantly beat a Bird around here. In fact the kid has made 3 of my car payments. I have fun with him, he stopped tring though so its kinda a bummer. He kept swearing I have a 350.. till I popped the hood. He REALLY cried then... He has the basic mods.. headers(elcheapo's), flowmaster exhaust and K&N's.

I have larger injectors, raised fuel PSI, slight port polish on the intake, a killer CAI, and a higher holding clutch. Its not pretty either, its usually 3-4 car lengths...

hmm, there must be something wrong with the 305 you raced camaro hunter. i drove my friends 92 RS with the 3.1 and there is no way he could keep up with my LG4. it wouldnt even be close. im not saying you're a liar, im just saying maybe the kid doesnt know how to keep his car in good running condition.....

is the LG4 5 speed?... His is auto and it is dog slow... hell I even drove it once and it seemed slower then my 3.1. I do not know any of the maintenance on the 305. So all those mods could be running on stock wires with 200K mile old spark plugs LOL... I agreed to race him reluntantly cause I was expecting to get beat... Well.. It didn't happen. I was just happy to shut the kid up.

Hell now I am working on my TBI to convert it to TPI. Then I will ask if he want to race again. HEHE...

You should "work" on his car before the race... disconnect a spark plug wire and retard the timing a little...

BTW When will people realize that the ignition is fine by itself(short of 300 Hp)? There is no difference between 8mm MSD ($80)wires and cheapo brand 8mm wires ($15)

Ok, there is no 305 MPFI, did you mean TBI or TPI, if it's TBI you might have a chance, if it's TPI your done for.
