Want to annihilate my friends LX and my friends Trans Am
I have a 1983 Camaro Z28 with a 305 stock, exhaust coming next saturday. I have some friends that have a 1998 Trans Am and another has a 1994 LX Stang, i can hang with the stang but the trans am smokes me everytime what can i do to beat them both at the track. Thinkin about droppin a 350 and an exhaust with headers

Your going to need a pretty well modded 350 to take the trans am. Or a fairly mooded one and run n20. It'll take a heap o bucks to get your 305 to hang. Or you could find a boneyard and pick up a LS1

Get a 350 crate. Maybe the ZZ4. Get some 3:73s posi, with a high stall. Then either a 3" cat-back, true duals would help a bit more here, since you need every last bit of HP. Some suspension work and if the TA is stock, you'll give him some problems.

my 305 will hang with an LS1(unless the driver is really good) and there's very little money in it. Of course it's not emissions legal and it would suck to drive it everyday, but it can be done.

All the cars as they stand will get eaten by the 98 T/A. You would need a pretty well built 350, the Mirage will need about $10,000, and the Mustang will need a pretty well built 5.0, because if it's an LX, it's a V6 and will run in the 16s!

No offense, but there never was an 1994 LX Mustang. The last LX was in '93. I know a lot of people call the V6's LX's, but Ford never did. The just called it the Mustang with no model designation. I know i'm knit-picking...but i hate when people think i drive a Base model V6 Mustang when i tell them i have an LX because "Oh, my mom drive an LX too....a '98 V6. Why didn't you buy a GT??"

Mustang5L5-
For what it's worth, whenever I see "LX," I remember what one of you 'Stang guys on here once said: "LX = Less Xtras." And, of course, when I think "less extras," I think "stripped down, hopped up."

Well since I have an 83 Z w/ a 305 and a 98 TA I can honestly say it's going to take ALOT of work. If I were you I'd get a crate motor. If you have the money you could get a ramjet 350 those are pretty bada$$. If you don't want to spend that much you could always buy a block and build it, that might save you some money if you pick your parts right. You'll also need suspension and drive train work to get the power to the ground. Plus (depending on how far you want to go) remove all non essential parts from your car to lighten it. Good luck.

I was lucky to find the 83 Z28 that I did for only $3K.
350 Crate
Blue printed and balanced ( have the papers)
performer rpm heads/cam
msd ignition
holley 700cfm double pumper
3.27 posi
1LE
and a bunch more.
I went through the papers that the guy gave me when I bought the car from him and I came up with over $8K in mods. So I will say this.. to mod the car will be about as much as finding one already modified. One takes money, one takes time.
