extremes are s10s and don't come with anything larger than a 4.3 v6. if it has the standard 2.2 4 cylinder, you'll rape it. the 4.3 can probably run a low 16, but do a search on this site because there have been many posts about these pieces of crap

Extreme's are all slow, even the V-6 runs 15.9 to 16.5 depending if it's reg cab or not. They have max HP of 180

But I would race you in my 1995 S-10 SS

it would depend on what you have in that SS....hehe i'm trying to find a speed shop around here that carries desktop dyno so i dont have to order it, i want to do a little bit to my motor and dont want to put a 350 in b-cuz its worth more like it sits. and i'd hate to go out and by heads, cam, intake and stuff and not get the effect i want. what do you have in your truck?

that ss should be just as fast as an extreme with a v6, aside from being a bit lighter probably unless you have mods to it. ss was just a dress up package right? they don't even look like they have the ZQ8 package, or maybe they just don't look like ZQ8s cause they came with 15 inch wheels.

As far as your question on the RSX, I went to the local strip last night and ther was a guy there that had a brand new Type S w/ CAI and 17 Einke (spelling?) racing rims. He ran a best of 10.2xx in the 1/8. He seemed fast (making that sick noise from his esxaust and chirping third all the time), but when he lined up with a late '90's Trans Am, he got stomped like he was tied.

PS: He also ran a '96 V6 Camaro, the Camaro ran a 10.453, and the Acura ran a 10.429. So you do the math....

thanks for the info on the rsx, that helps alot, i've been doing some research on acura's honda's and nissan's and all the cars that are always trying to race me have no HP like the rsx, civic's (of all breeds) heh and a few little odd *****. i think i'll wait a few months when i put some money in my car and go after the GTP'S and the S2000's

The 1994 to 1995 SS had ZQ8 and a CPI VORTEC 4.3

All performance and none of that Extreme, all show no go

My truck bone stock had 195hp and 265 #/ft and weighs 2,968lbs

I am now running a 14.9

Xtreme are jokes. I heard of one supercharged that was running low 15's with tuning. I saw a couple of stock ones at the track. They were 4.3's and they were running 17.1-17.2. I wouldn't worry about them. I didn't know that about the mid 90's SS's though. WHat did they do stock? I don't give a damn about the Xtreme name at least Chevy didn't "cheapen" the SS badge. Oops I just remembered they make a FWD Monte Carlo SS.

the new extreme has ZQ8 and cpi 4.3 just like the ss of previous years. i still don't get how one is significantly quicker than the other. either way, worry about the rsx before the s10.

Heres the scoop on S-10's

1994-1995 S-10 SS:
4.3 VORTEC CPI V-6
Used front inlet full plenum CPI and was available with auto only
Rated at:
195 Hp
265 Ft lbs

All SS models came standard with:
4.3 VORTEC (W)
4L60e auto
3.42 gears
Limited slip diff
ZQ8 Suspension

As tested 1/4 mile:
Ranged from 15.8 to 16.1

1996-present SS or Extreme:
4.3 VORTEC CPI V-6 (Z)
4.3 VORTEC CPI V-6 (W)
Both used top inlet thermoplastic intake plenum, The (W) could only be had with auto tranny. And the (Z) with 5-speed or auto.
Rated at:
(Z) 170 Hp
245 Ft lbs

(W) 180 Hp
250 Ft lbs

The newer SS included same options as 1994-1995 but 3.42 were optional and a 5-speed was standard.

Extreme could have many variations even a 4cyl but still included the ZQ8 suspension which was lowerd 2" on all equiped trucks.

As tested 1/4 mile:
(W) ranged from 16.2 to 16.7 in std. cab form
(Z) ranged from 16.5 to 17.0 in std. cab form

All SS trucks were Std cab so if you see a x cab it's fake.

I recently raced the new extreme twice, and both times came out victorious! the next day I stopped by a local chevy dealer and found out its rated at 195 hp.

I have a 98 S-10 SS and with K&N filtercharger, hypertech, shift kit, full exhuast it will run about a 15.0 I believe. This pales in comparison to my friend who is running a 11.86 in his 96 S-10 SS but his has a lot more goodies that i'm still working on. Every Xtreme I have raced on the street I have walked by 2-3 cars by 55. It seems that they are slower especially the ext. cab which adds 550 pounds not to mention the ground effects weight as well.
