Another 4th gen starts a fight, and looses
At a light, 3 lanes, I'm on far left, middle is a purple (gay plum color) 95ish firebird with an Lt1 and plenty of mods, and the far right is a c4 vette. I just pulled out from subway and was sipping on my drink the WHOLE time. I glanced over really quick only to see the 4th gen guy all hardcore looking straight ahead. His car was louder at idle than mine. I left my tranny in overdrive because I didn't expect him to do anything but when I heard tires loosing traction...I put the pedal down slowly (traction) ran right past the both of them still drinking my A&W root beer
. It was so funny because he was so pissed.
So as I see it, that's yet ANOTHER kill. I guess this sleeper look is paying off. Now I hope with a 6 speed and more tuning (quality injectors), the car will be ready for the LS1 crowd. Traction limiting and the darn stock TC is killing me.

I didn't see the vette because it was on the otherside of the bird. They were running the same but since the bird left first out of the 3 of us, the vette didn't have a chance. Basically he got a car length ahead of me and then it was wow, hi, bye, that was quick and then the last I remember was the bird dude just lagging WAY back behind me like he didn't want to get up next to the next light against me (figures) and the vette must have turned off somewhere because this was a long stretch of road. Oh well, just thought I'd let the TBI guys get a little glory.

I am sorry but I have to call
we all know that TBI is slow. And nothing you do will ever make it fast. Rip that off and put a carb on there!

If you call my BS, how about sipping on this...at the track back in December, I raced against the same thing only with a 6 speed and it was black (more respectable color). Kicked his *** too. He left off but if you look at the 60' and 1/8 mile you'll see that I was ahead of him and he wasn't just "rolling." If I can find the slip I'll post it.
Not only a TBI but I did it with one hand and one foot with full tank of gas (actually helps me get traction on cold tires).

I'll vouch for Jprevost and say that his kill sounds about right. This comes from a guy that has a very similiar setup as him, and knows that even a TBI motor can make power.

Good Kill
If you're running 13.80's I can believe you beat a LT1 since they were anywhere from very high 13 second (rare) to low 14 second cars (often)

STOP to al those who doubt Jon........I have rode in the car and it is faster than a LT1. LT1=285hp L31...350....= 330hp starting. Now Jon has some excelent mods to go on his so he should be able to whip a LT1 at any time.
TBI is not slow just a tad harder to tune.....I had it and removed it because I didn't want to burn proms. Not because it was slow.

I can't wait to pull a little more timing out and then have the timing come in quicker. It gets old having to "take it easy" when it's cold out because of the chance of backfire (yes I need to sit down and work on the timing a LOT).

I hear ya. I love hearing about fast TBI's. I figured you being a TBI guy would get the slap on a carb thing. Sounds like a sweet car.

I would think my car would be a sleeper. Low profile hood and stock rims but my exhaust gives it away a little.

Brian, nope, didn't get over to Jeg's
but from what my friend told me, it wasn't worth it. He was going to get his f*rd 5.0 dynoed but people had gotten there at like 4am just to sign up for the free runs. Not to mention they had a list long mile of people that were going to pay.
I was working and studying. My dyno day will be in the form of a white piece of paper that reads my 1/4 mile ET and mph
. I also plan on getting the car dynoed when I get my wideband o2 sensor all hooked-up.
TBI does require more tuning because it's too frequently disregarded as anything that could support high performance. I think that and the fact that it was installed on the lower performance engines just hurt the system as a whole. I plan to rectify this matter with my setup. Keeping the GM-ecm is a key part of the formula
.
My car is a sleeper because right now it's got a quiet exhaust, mild cam, stock hood, and RS badges. The 1 tailpipe helps a little but nobody usually see's that when I pull up next to em. They usually just see the z28 spoiler with the RS body and asume it's an slow RS.

Looking for a low 13 second pass with at least a 104mph. That's with a stock TC which might change pending I find a 6 speed this summer.
Most LT1s hand my *** to me (well, maybe not *that* bad.) I guess I should take up drinking root beer.
