Raced a Camaro SS
I raced a 96 or 97 SS with a 6speed. We came up to a stop light and we talked, he said his car was stock but I don't think it was, oh well. The light turned green and as I expected I pulled on him through 1st and part or 2nd and then he started creeping up on me, my window was even with his rear tire by 75mph and by 90mph I caught up and we were about even when we shut down. I have a couple Q's. When I was about half way through 2nd he was already in 3rd, did this guy have aftermarket gears? His exhaust was atleast as loud as mine and both tips came out on the drivers side like the SLP system for the 3rdgens but his tips were atleast 3 inches in diameter, was this type of exhaust available from the factory? The reason I'm asking these Q's is because I have never had a problem beating 6spd LT1's before, but this one put up a good fight.

There must be someone out there that could tell me if this guy had mods or not. This is really bothering me because if this guy was stock that means my car only runs around 14 flat which doesn't make sense because I've ran 13.4 with my g-tech and that was with letting off the gas early because I ran out of room to safely go that fast.

Sounds like a good race. I have gone against a couple 4th gens but they were LS1 which are very easily able to take my 305. Sounds like the guy did some stuff to his car. Probably did some free mods but I don't know about the gearing. I think those came with good rear gears as it was.
