82 Mazda RX7 VS 92 RS

this kid from a neighbouring school keeps telling me how his 1982 RX7 is the best thing out, i looked up the specs and it has a whopping 100hp and 105ft lb tourque! (its close to around there)
they weigh like 2400 lbs tho
I was wondering if my 92 RS with the 305 tbi engine, lt1 cam, full 3 inch exhaust except headers, 3.73 posi, and K&N will take him in a 1/4 mile race

my car is an auto and his is stick

A couple weeks ago at the track, my buddy raced a early 80's RX-7 in his '93 Caddy STS. He ran a 14.8 @ 93MPH and the RX-7 went low 16's

Dude if you don't beat him, I would seriously sell your car. You should beat him so fast his head would spin

Is his car a turbo? Does It have any mods? It's hard to tell with the information you gave. If it is stock, you will win, but rex's can be fast as hell with mods. good luck!

and why is that?

yes stock for stock you should win

they are something like a 17 second car stock

but are really easy to mod and weigh almost nothing.

82 RX7:
100 Horsepower 105 ft lbs torque

92 RS w/ L03:
170 horsepower 255 ft lbs torque before Cam exhaust and filter.

I am a proclaimed TBI hater but if there is a race this car can win it is certainly this one. i would say if your cam and gears dont have you in the low 16's, MAAAYBE high 15's its time to sell your car win or lose, but definately this will be a race you will own if his car is stock.

I would hope the '92 RS, but again watchout for the mods. Those RX-7's have like 50,000 mod options that are available. So just find out what kind of mods if any that he has before you race. And if he doesn't tell you or doesn't let you see under the hood don't shoot your mouth off or you could get your butt kicked. Good Luck.

hehe looking under the hood isn't going to get you anything unless he has a peri port motor

I mean you might see headers or something like that but other then that you won't see much

stock for stock yeah I easily say the TBI camaro would win

but if he has even a good street port he might stand a chance against you anything above that you might need to worry as this sub 2400lb car might be pushing 200+hp and you wouldn't be able to tell except for the noise..... but then again you might just think the car was out of tune since it would sound like it has a really bad miss......

either way I have 20 on you
