umm..i think i got sprayed!!

well for most of the ontario region board guys, i said the roc is not gonna be driven anymore this year...that was kinda a mild lie..i went to go get gas..nothing else then i seen my buddy in his 2000sir civic...we were talking a bit and then this black 95? talon drives in..lowered tinted big kit nice exaust done totally up..now around here these guys have both motor work and exterior mods done...(thats why i hate racing imports) nobody around has seen this guy b4 he gets out of his car comes right up to me and says that your car? im like yeah, he comliments me as i do the same, he asks me,...do you run her? i say with friends, she aint nothing special, shes stock too ...he laughs yeah right..ive heard through the grape vine that your car in the camaro around here to beat...i laugh ...hes like im serious..after about 5 of trying to convince me he asks me if i was gonna run him or not...im like naw..she aint perfoming that well..so my buddy in the sir said hell run the guy(mid 14 sec car he has) the talon agrees..

off we go..
my buddy smokes him off the line and at the finish he loses by like 1.5 cars..

my buddies like race him dude i didnt lose by that much and you spank me by like 4 cars youll kill him...im still a bit hesitant..but i agree..

at the light i rape him going sideways!!! drop into second dont see anything but his front screen in his bumper..then it happens..

as i shift into 3rd still hitting it hard he blows by me like im standing still!! i was like wtf??? i have never been smoked like that in my entire life...he kept driving and didnt catch up with him..

while driving back i was thinking what the hell he had in that thing..

i pull into the coffee shop and my buddy asks me what gear i missed to get the other guy to blow by me so fast..i said i HIT EVERY GEAR PERFECT....he gets the biggest grin on his face,,,

YOU WERE JUST SPRAYED MY FRIEND!!

damnit i hate losing like that..but getting sprayed..aint nothing..its bs hp in my opinion and it took the spray to beat me so im still proud of my baby!!

What exactly do you have in that thing that you got walked by spray on a talon. At most he would have a 75 shot, and evn a mild 300hp car should still keep ahead of a mildly worked talon tsi with a 75 shot.

After having raced and driven a mildly modded TSI Talon that wasn't running that well, I have much respect for those cars. High 12s streetable is very easy, w/o spray. I could definately see low 12s spraying 100 shot. For some reason those little 2.0s can handle the power all day long. If that guy knew what he was doing, and it sounds like he did, it's not hard to build that short block really stout and run 20-30 lbs of boost plus a shot. Yeah, you got sand bagged and sprayed. That's why I hate racing for money, sneaky little SOBs.

The thing that messes it up for everyone else who uses nitrous is the fact that you have people (like the guy you raced)That pretend like they don't have it,Then they spray you once they have suckered you into raceing them. the last time i was at the street races where i live,There was this guy with a chevy luv pickup truck with a built 350 That was beating up on everyone he raced,And this guy with a older el camino w/a 350 challenged him to a race.Turned out the guy with the el camino was running a sneaky pete systym,But of course he didn't say anything about it until after the race

Wow, a Luv with a 350? That's kinda funny How did he make it fit??

I had an Isuzu P'up which is basically an equivilent of the Luv (parts are interchangable and so on). I had to talk to it really nice for it to reach the speed limit on the highway.

last night I was driving home and saw this truck it looked like an extreme with duallie silverodo fenders. I looked at the back and saw a 502 sticker. I was like Holy **** right in front of my mom. Would this combo be possible? I don't know much about trucks.

That's an easy swap. Not any worse than putting one in an F-bod. As far as getting a full sized bed on a compact truck, that would be a trick.

i don't see the problem with these people running nitrous. unless you ask someone specifically, and they lie, there is nothing wrong with it. i live by the motto, run what you brung, and hope you brung enough.

I agree with Nitro ... in Street Racing there are no rules on what you can and cant use. If you're dishonest about power adders then you might win you'll get no respect (like the guy who sprayed you). My motto is to build an engine w/ F/I so insane that even if someone sprayed you'd still smoke him. Crank up the boost.

Couldn't have said it better. I've been sprayed twice. Once with my stock 300zx vs. an integra(from 60 on). And another time with my trans am against 95-96ish gt. I lost against the integra but i took the mustang cuz he lost control of the car when he sprayed (roads were wet).

Most electronic boost controllers (and some manual controllers) have high/low boost settings. It's possible that he simply turned up the boost for the race. I guess it's impossible to say unless you checked under his hood.

I wouldn't be so sure you got sprayed. it may seem that way...but turbo cars can be very decieving. I've heard of stock turbo dsms running mid 12's. Sounds to me like he has a clipped/ported turbo, and a boost controller. It causes more lag, but much more power at the boost limit. It's hard to say just by your post, so ask the guy.

I know guys with stock 1st gen turbos (14b's) that have run 12's and guys with upgraded turbos (16g's/18g's) that can't seem to get out of the 14's. If the car isn't properly set up for the turbo, it's not going to make the car faster...in fact, it will probably hurt it overall.

I'm not saying that you didn't get sprayed, but I will say that there are all sorts of turbo upgrades available these days, from mild to crazy...and sometimes you just can't tell.

I've been accused of spraying before, too. The guy looked over at me at the next light and said "what's that button you keep pushin'?" I told him that there was no "button" but he insisted that he could "smell the nitrous". In actuality, what he was smelling was my clutch slipping under maximum boost. He just wouldn't believe me.
