Modified notchback couldn't keep up
Some of the guys from our club and I met up with the Central Virginia Mustang Club tonight for a cruise to one of the local cruise-ins. On our way there, I got up beside some friends of mine from CVMC in their '88 ex-police car notch. It's a 5 speed with 3.73's, Cobra intake, E-cam, cold air, pullies, 1 5/8" shorties, flowmaster cat back, and a hurst shifter. I've driven it before and it's a pretty stout ride. Anyway, back to the story...I got up beside Bill at about 45 mph and he looks over with a grin on his face so I knew what was about to happen. We both downshifted and he punched it right before I did. I hung beside him for a few seconds, then dropped the hammer and...see ya! I put a few cars on him and shut down at the top of 2nd. When we finally got to the cruise-in his wife says to me "how do we get the front end of our car to lift way up like yours does?" :lala:

Nice kill. Thats the beauty of the 5.0. In near stock form with suspension and tires they can lift the tires off the ground.
Take my word, I can't (yet) but my dad was told he has got the left front off, and only at 3500 launches with a stock front suspension. With the struts, and springs, we will have some stories!!!
100% stock motor=WHEELIES

yep...this was my 'vert with a bone stock motor, 2400 stall converter, and a few suspension mods...

And this is my current car...doesn't transfer weight anywhere near as well as it did with the 4 cyl. springs on it...not sure if this was on the way up or down...

I love huge blowers and turboes, but Howie is still the man, looks stock, goes 8s, and all of that in ONLY 306 street legal Cubes.
Oh before each event, they run a 30 mile cruise, and then race. Between rounds there is no touching the car, and all of this on a DOT tire! He averaged an 8.39 at 171 at the last event he was at!
