Nice night.
Well i was out and about last night (1st night off this week) and went down to the local cruze strip. Anyway i cought up with a couple of my friends (one of which has a very nice 73 limelight duster) and we all kinda cruise around. Well we pull into the dairy Queen and start talking and this girl i used to work with pulls up in a 1st gen turbo eclipse (all stock looking minus a very nice and really not terribly noticable muffler). Anyway she rolls up and wants me to race. 1st off i knew there had to be something up because i had seen the car earlier and under hard accel it was dumping smoke out the back and moveing way to fast to be stock. So i turn her down knowing that my RS is not the fastest thing and that if that turbo has been tampered with that my chances went from slim to non. Low and behold she was running 15lbs of boost. About this time some kid with a 4.6 gt stang comes through and we all just kinda point and say to race him. The kid not being bright enough to ask about the car just says yes. So we go out to a long, deserted dead end road and watch. They line up and go. It was a really sad day for that stang, the little eclipse had em off the line and all the way by atleast 3-4 car lengths. Glad i didn't race thats for sure.

If it was dumping smoke out the back it means it was running rich and not at full potential so she would have wooped the stang by alot more if it wasnt for that ( this is assuming the smoke out of the back is smoke from the muffler)

Ya part of it is running to rich part of it is oil. The engine is slowly dieing and since she got a large settlement from a lady that hit here in a parking lot (car hit person kinda thing) she has the cash to put in a new engine and work it up. Still pretty sad to see that stang get whooped that hard.
If its a close match i'll race, or if its so blatently obviouse that i couldn't hang with the car i will race, but something that a V8 should catch and i know mine can't i won't waste the gas on.

Running rich=only bad if you care about gas mileage and hate cleaning fouled plugs. Running lean=bad all the time. Engine get red hot break things bad. Hmmm.
