How would I fare against a Lancer EVO?

Might race one sometime soon...what do you think? Would they be able to keep up? I hear it's a pretty badass little car.

Yeah, it is, but I don't think it'll hit 12s. They will make 320ish hp cc awd. The rally edition WRX is supposed to be competitive. Those would both be cars I'd love to drive.

they only make 278 hp but even with that they will be in low 13's and will break 12's with very little added boost

Even though I like the EVO, they are not going to run low 13's from the factory IMO. I'm betting high 13's, low 14's. Which is good as hell, and all they have to do is turn up the boost and they murder! Hey, I could be wrong but I guess we will have to wait and see!

Seriously, now that I think about it, I don't doubt a mid 13 or lower at all. Those lancers are one mitsubishi I would LOVE to own! The lancers right now are the biggest joke I have seen. So I agree with you man! Do you got any pics of your eclipse? I drove a sportronic (spelling?) one and it was REALLY nice! I like the interior of those cars and maybe they will be bring out a turbo six for them! That would be cool! Also, one more thing to think about is that the EVO's weren't designed for straight line performance, so I will expect times all over the place!

Yeah I doubt its going to hit 12s stock. Thats Z06 range. You should have no worries with a stock one. But once you start talking mods (turbo/awd) watch out.

The lancers that are out right now are about as bad as my v6! So I think you'll beat him!

Car: too many ...
I've been following up on the EVO's for a long time because I wanted to buy one this Christmas. I dont think we'll see one here soon for at least another 10 months. The press releases say it will come out in 2003, but from what I read on Lancer messageboards (where a few 'insiders' post), its not gonna be ready till 2004. And they are going to call it the Lancer Evo 8. Unfortunately, the US wont get alot of the great parts that come in the Japanese/European versions. The main things they plan to leave out are the Brembo brakes (smaller brakes for US version to keep cost down), the ACD/AYC system (very advanced handling system for the AWD), and then it will basically be a de-tuned version of the ECU, engine, exhaust, etc.

Of course people will be able to mod them ... By the time the Evo 8 comes out in the US, it will have already been out in Australia, Japan, and Europe for a while. I'm sure lots of aftermarket parts will hit the market really fast. So people will be able to upgrade the ECU, the exhaust/uppipe/downpipe, brakes, and whatnot .... but they'll NEVER get the best part of the car ... the ACD/AYC system .... really SUCKS for US buyers.

But anyway, if you're gonna be racing a Evo then the person who owns it is full of it ... no Evo's in the US unless it was imported (very very rare) ... most likely its a Lancer 135hp N/A POS that cant handle for crap (FWD) and will get smoked by grandmas driving Chevy Luminas.
