k u guys, i might get flamed i might not but read

Well today, I had my XR5 out and I wanted to see if I can race anyone and I seen my friend Robert with his 82 Trans Am he has a carb'd 305 and he just got done doing a tune up and said his car runs alot better. Well we went to the abandoned road about 4 miles from my house and we run em. I had the lead from the start, When I hit third I pulled even more away from him, When it was all said and done around 90 I was about 2-3 cars in front of him, I was VERY surprised, I thought it would have been closer but I guess not, Well that's my race today, See ya guys. I hope you all believe me because it's true, I know Jocww and Fire Audio won't believe me but I don't care!!! Later

My friend has an XR5, and he lost to a 1995 Jetta w. an exhaust!!! I am not calling BS, but if you have driven in anything fast, you would not be waisting your time racing in an XR5. I would love to line up next to him, just to see the outcome and have a little fun!

I'm not calling BS, because an LG4 runs 17's stock. (carbed 305 = lg4 right?) Chevy HP did a build up of one of these a year ago.. It took them A LOT to break out of 15's. Nitrous and all.

I don't doubt that you beat him, but my question is: do STILL think your car has "175 hp" and runs a claimed 15.1? If so, race a 305 TPI. If you are running a 15.1, you should be able to keep up with it.

first off, there is no way that car can run 15.1 in the quarter without serious work. a car that runs 15.1 has to be putting around 200-210 hp to the flywheel. topaz has 135 stock! second, i have seen stock LG4's run 16 flat with no work whatsoever. heck, my car would be in the 15's if my damn trans worked...third, LG4 buildup . LG4 in the mid 14's at least N/A with some work...

curt86iroc Don't bother trying to convince him that his car doesn't have 175 HP.. He has avoided that like anything. It has came up in every post since he got the car and he obviously has no answer for that. The reason is because he now realizes that he was wrong claiming a 15 and 175Hp.

As far as that build up, I'm talking about a different one. Chevy High Performance did one a year ago.. They started out somewhere in the 17's and with a lot of work done they were scratching their heads to get in the 14's.. I can recall they had gears, cam, intake manifold, headers, high flow cat, exhaust and were still 15's.. Then they did heads and a full rebuild and that I think still had them at low 15's.. Then they put the bottle on it and broke 13.9's eventually..

Fact is, a 20 year old lg4 in poor tune will run a 17. Not a 16 flat. Either way, even if he did beat it which is still questionable, he still isn't anywhere near a 15.1 or 175 HP. And it is still a topaz.

I'd rather lose all day in a thirdgen than drive a topaz around. At least I could pull some crazy donuts and brake stands.

I'm not doubting that a 16 flat isn't possible. It just isn't possible in a car with 220,000 miles, that runs like ****, which is what he is saying he beat.

I wouldn't brag about beating an '82 Carb Camaro. Then again, I might since for some reason my car is slow as *****.

that's a cool little LG4 build up article. I want two of the three things they did, the cam, manifold and i'm just going to port my heads. All those numbers are flywheel though, right Curt? Oh well. I'll be doing better than i am now. And with my other mods, ...
