l69 vs talon tsi

raced a tsi talon in the 84 t/a today (stock and very lean and out of tune) from a dead stop, im guessing he was a 5 speed and im an auto. I got the jump out of the hole but at about 15-20mph, he pulled on me pretty good, getting about a length and a half by 50 when we layed off, i think i might have regained a little at close to 80 or 90 mph speeds because ive raced an eclipse from like 50 or so and he never pulled by the time we were doing past my 85mph speedo could tell me. Once i replace my carb and get a tune, im sure i could keep with them, but without a g92 lb9 or a l98, i dont think i could take him

It must have been the FWD Turbo, bc i don't think you'd hung with a AWD Launch Gotta love a :hail:5-6K clutch drop with just a slight chirp
Good run none the less, those DSM can be pretty quick

Good race. Only someone who is crazy would dump the clutch at 5-6k in a DSM, they have such a weak drivetrain. Unless it has a rebuilt tranny, the car would not last long. And redline is 6500(I think on the 2nd gen Talons anyway.)

like Peg said, sounds like it was a FWD'er and prolly not too highly modded, just the regular cheap, free mods that get those cars so quick so cheap! i raced my buddies 1G Eclipse FWD that had an upgraded turbo and the stock exhaust in my RS.i had him for about 60-70 feet then he hooked and caught 2nd and was gone.turbo lag sucks.but boost, boost is goooooood :hail:

haha.. you're right about the free mods thing. my friends 95 GST has full 3" exhaust and thats about hsi only non-freebie mod. Pulls 101-105 mph depending on weather. basically the only other mod is a cheap *** boost controller i built using a design i saw online. some cheap brass fittings and hose barbs, a metal ball, a spring and a tightening bolt.. lol.
