my step dad has a 1984 trans am 305 H.O, and this next guy has a 1987 toyota supra 3.0 turbo. the guy with the supra keeps talking carp about how Sh*T gm cars are and what not. anyway they are both all stock, well the trans hame has performance wires and plugs but thats it. anywhy who will win.

Umm I do not think they made a TT Supra in 87. I think they were only a Single till early 90's I think(Might be looking at wrong model) And the 89 Turbo Supra ran a 15.2 with a manual. I do not know what shape your 84 is in so I really can not judge. You are not going to be beaten that bad if it is model I am thinking of. I would say no more than 2 cars, I think.

How many of the guys who replied have ever driven a L69 or raced one???? A good driver can take a stock l69 5 speed into the mid 15's. 15.3 -15.4 on a good day.

If the firebird is an auto, you will lose.

If it is a 5 speed, w/3.73, and you are a decent driver, it's a driver's race. ( those skinny tires are gonna hurt you at the launch.)

well they are goin to race this weekend my step dad has decide to stop putting of the header and exhaust system, so hes goin to do it this week, he does not want to loose. anything i could tell him to do to better his chances?

 

dont know if anyone is still reading this, but this guy is trying to say his car does 9 sec on the track. he does not even have and exhaust system its all stock rusted out, and does not know what a K & N filter is. is there anything i can say to put him in his place or a question to catch him like red handed, u know what i mean.

If its an N/A its a 3700 lb car with 200 HP.....Well urs is about the same I guess, on the freeway he will rape u but in a 1/4th mile i think u can win...now if its a Turbo its slightly heavier but is 232HP at stock boost.....The N/A is is very high 15's if it isnt into the 16's........I raced a 1990 NA 5 speed in my 2.8L V6 and we were tied till maybe 2nd or third gear and then id say he beat my by a few cars....He didnt kill me and my car is pushing 140HP......i definitly think ur V8 can handle it in a 1/4th....Like I said If its turbo expect to lose but not all that bad.....BTW this stock 1990 NA had a 1/8th of 10.6

 

I don't know Supra's that well, but my girlfriend has a friend that owns a turbo'd 3.0L one.
I beat on it for fun in my crappy 97 Escort. I haven't even bothered to race it in the Firebird.
I think that may have something to do with the fact that the car is all original, probably out of tune, and that the guy has spent all his money on a pretty pearl paint job.

 

Tell ya what. My 86 camaro goes as follows. 305 LG4, it has 1-1/2 headers, high flow cat, and a 3 in. into a flowmaster. open knn air filter, and a decent ignition. the tranny just has a fairbanks servo

the rest is as follows. 2.73 open rear, original tranny no rebuild, the whole motor is completely stock

the car ran a 15.5@85mph on futura 235/60/15 street tires. not too bad, an intake manifold and a carb rebuild should net me another few tenths.

 

reason i say it is if he has the HO motor, he should run a better time.
